German artist Paul Klee says: “Art does not reproduce the visible; rather it makes visible.”

The two artists have increasingly collaborated as curators for more than 20 years,

organizing and curating exhibitions both in Austria and abroad. Each of them works as an

artist, and the exhibition planned in Ruse allows both artists to exhibit together, reflecting

their intensive collaboration over the past 25 years in the exciting spaces of the Ruse Art

Gallery.

The title (in)visible shift refers, on the one hand, to the temporal shift in the artists’

practice and collaboration, and on the other, to current developments in the broader

context of politics, the world, and regional dynamics. Often, it is what is not visible at first

glance—moments and visual positions—that leave a lasting impression.

The exhibition will examine the demands and subtleties of the viewing experience and

included works that test the limits of perception. Drawing attention to what is often

unnoticed at first glance, may heighten our awareness of inconspicuous details in the

artists’ materials or in mundane objects.
